ABOUT CAROLE
For more than 40 years, Carole Lantz has been delighting Americans with her vibrant and whimsical art. She has been known to paint ladybugs on her kitchen windows, flowers on her mirrors and crickets hiding along the baseboards - so lifelike that first-time visitors often try swatting them with a rolled-up newspaper. Her hand painted soap bars are legendary around her home base of Eaton, Ohio. Her studio is a converted pig barn, nestled among trees and flowers, squirrels and chipmunks, deer and field mice. Walking from her home along the winding path to the barn is like taking a trip into a fairy tale - one with a very happy ending.
Entirely self-taught, Carole started creating art while still a schoolgirl in Indiana, and sold her first piece not long after that. A master of the Folk Art school, Carole is inspired by the beauty of the natural world. Her "canvas" consists of any material that will hold paint! You'll find her vibrantly decorated cottage furniture in many of the finest homes in the Midwest. With a few strokes of the brush she can turn a simple flower pot into a brilliant work of art. Her hand painted soap bars often go unused due to their beauty. Although they work just fine for scrubbing kids' dirty faces! Carole should know being a mother of three and a grandmother of five. Carole lives in the real world, not on some "Artist's Planet", like so many creative types. Folks privileged enough to call her friend are charmed by Carole's down-home manner and incisive country wisdom.
Carole's designs are created as original pieces of art. Many collectors have discovered they make an excellent investment! Her work has been awarded prizes in numerous Juried Art Shows throughout Indiana, Kentucky, Tennessee, Pennsylvania, Michigan and Ohio. Carole is a member of the Society of Decorative Painters and an AIFD-certified Floral Designer. She continues to develop as an artist, and promises to surprise everyone in the upcoming years with some unexpected treats, both on and off soap bars.
